If you watched The Menu or The Bear, you know that fine dining these days can be a horrific and/or traumatic experience. That trend appears to continue in House of Spoils, a Blumhouse production about a chef (Ariana DeBose) who sets out to start her own restaurant on an estate previously owned by a supposed witch.

Things, unsurprisingly, don’t go great for her! Or for her patrons, for that matter. Both videos include crawling bugs (which may or may not be real) exploding out of tarts and risotto, and tease that DeBose’s character becomes more and more unhinged after she does a horror movie no-no and starts eating the herbs in the witch’s garden.

Here’s the official synopsis:

From Blumhouse, House of Spoils follows an ambitious chef (Ariana DeBose) as she opens a restaurant on a remote estate where she battles kitchen chaos, crushing self-doubts… and a haunting presence who threatens to sabotage her at every turn.

The movie comes from the writing and directing duo Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, who previously directed the black comedy Blow the Man Down. In addition to DeBose, it stars Barbie Ferreira, Arian Moayed, Amara Karan, Mikkel Bratt Silset, and Marton Csokas.

House of Spoils premieres on Prime Video on October 3, 2024.
